Women's Division National Tournament Team (WDNT)
This is the team that represents OREGON at the NATIONAL TOURNAMENT over Memorial Day Weekend each year. It's the biggest college recruiting event of the year. The 2016 National Tournament will again be held in Bethlehem, PA at Lehigh University. In addition the team will get the chance to watch the NCAA women's lacrosse finals in Philadelphia, PA! DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FRIDAY, APRIL 1ST - NO WALK-UPS ALLOWED
Tryouts: Please make sure you wear a white tee-shirt to tryout with no logos and dark shorts. Do not wear any other item with a school logo on it. Bring all lacrosse gear, appropriate layers for the weather, snacks and water. Please arrive between 9:30-9:45am. Tryouts will consist of approx. 2.5 hours of a warm-up, stations, running and end with a full length scrimmage. There will be breaks for water and food.
Once the team is selected, more information will follow.
The team will leave on Thursday, May 26th and return on Monday, May 30th.
There may be 1-2 practices (this is the only time commitment)
The approximate cost of the trip is $1000-$1200 (this includes everything excepts food and spending money).
Players can significantly reduce the cost through fundraising that OGLA and the National Team coaches will help with.
Paje Stelling (Head Coach):
As a player, Paje founded the Glencoe Girls Lacrosse Club in 1996 where she was team captain and starting midfielder for 4 years and she played for the Oregon All-Star Team in '99/'00. In May of her senior year, Paje received the OGLA certificate of excellence for extraordinary skills, sportsmanship, and over-all contributions to the growth of Oregon Girls Lacrosse. Paje then went on to co-found Oregon State University’s Women’s club team in 2000. She then went on to play in the United Kingdom for the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and later, for a London based team called the Blackheath Tigers. In between stints of living in the UK, she was able to come back to Oregon and Head Coach at Liberty High School. In 2008 Paje moved to Australia, where she was a part of a lacrosse club called the Chadstone Redbacks where she played, coached, and refereed for the wider Victorian league. When she moved back stateside, she coached briefly at Glencoe High School before taking on her current position as Head Coach at Westview High School in 2012. This is her 5th season with the Wildcats. She was the Head Coach for the 2014 WDNT Oregon team, when they won their division. Paje was also named the 2015 Metro Coach of the Year as well as the 2015 All-State Coach of the Year. She also takes part in the Westview youth and summer programs, has coached summer league and Rippers for Lax NW. She works for US Lacrosse as a CEP Trainer and will now Head Coach for 3D Oregon.
Colleen O’Donnell (Assistant Coach):
Colleen attended St. Mary's Academy and graduated in 2008. She helped lead SMA to two consecutive state championships in 2007 and 2008, finishing high school with a 44-0 record. Colleen went on to play at Robert Morris University- Division 1 in Pittsburgh PA (starter all 4 years). Was the Division 1 career record holder for caused turnovers, and was the first player in history of NCAA to record over 50 ground balls and over 50 caused turnovers in one season. Meanwhile, she led her team in points and draw controls. She was also First Team All-Conference and All-American.
Currently Colleen is in her third season coaching at St. Mary's Academy and is beginning her second year with 3D Oregon. She has coached youth in Encenitas, CA for Adrenaline Lacrosse, Rhino Lacrosse in Portland, and 3RL in Pittsburgh, PA.
