Coaches: I hope this message finds you all well!
Writing this afternoon to ask for your help in getting your top players to the WNT Tryouts for Team Oregon this Sunday! Registration ends this Friday (no walk up registrations allowed per USL rules). If you have not talked to your top players about tryouts yet, please make it a priority tonight!
As most of you know, we did not send a team in 2017 team to build in a bit of a "gap year" to help raise the age of our players and be sending more rising seniors and juniors versus our most recent trend of rising sophomores (essentially players who just finished their freshmen season).
While the 31 players we have signed up so far seem to be meeting the desired criteria (player age, coming from strong teams and they themselves have average or above average stats) we still feel a number of recognizable names are missing. While the WNT experience is not cheap, we truly hope your own programs can work with families to try and help mitigate the expense. We will be doing our T-Shirt and Sweatshirt sale again and as some of you know, players are able to cut signifigant dollars off their tab with a little bit of hustle and grit selling gear.
The OGLA Board is dedicated towards getting our top 18 Oregon players to this event and just like in Washington, we hope the team is mainly comprised of rising upperclassmen who are able to make a good showing on a national stage. We hope to see our best and brightest out this Sunday!
